Bid Boxes for Nikah: Ideas, What to Put Inside and Prices (2026)
Every nikah ends the same way: someone hands you a little box or pouch on your way out. In Pakistan we call them bid boxes (or bidh boxes), nikkah boxes or giveaways, and they usually hold something sweet: chuharay, mithai, dry fruit or dates. If you are planning one, here are ideas that guests actually remember, what to put inside, the packaging choices and what it all costs per guest.

Qabool Hai bid boxes, filled with hand-stuffed chocolate dates
Bid box ideas for nikah, mehndi, dholki and walima
- Chocolate stuffed dates in a customised bid box. Dates are the traditional nikah sweet; stuffing them with kunafa, almond or peanut butter and dipping them in chocolate makes them a gift people talk about. Our customised bid boxes for nikah carry your names in gold calligraphy.
- Dates and dry fruit together. Four chocolate dates with 50 g of mixed dry fruit fills a box nicely and feels generous without costing a fortune.
- Organza potlis in your colour theme. A potli with pearls and a gold cord looks beautiful on a tray at the nikah stage. Pick one colour, or mix ivory, sage and blush pink for a pastel mehndi.
- Clear bags with a ribbon. The most popular choice for big guest lists: the dates show through, and the ribbon colour does the theming. Ivory for the nikah, red for the mehndi and baraat.
- A printed name tag. A small tag with your names and the date turns any favour into a keepsake.
- Chuharay, the traditional way. Dried dates are still the classic nikah giveaway. Pair them with a few soft or chocolate dates if you want something guests will actually eat on the way home.
- A dholki favour with a fun tag. Two dates in a clear bag with a playful tag for the friends who sang all night.
- A single date on a card. For very large walimas, one chocolate date on a printed card keeps the cost per guest low.
- Ready-made mini boxes. No tying, no packing: a Mini Box of 4 chocolate dates is ready to hand out.
- Mixed flavours in every favour. Put a different flavour in each, like Paan-tastic for the desi shaadi touch and Kunafa Pistachio for the dessert lovers.
What to put inside a nikah box
- Dates: chuharay (dried dates) are the tradition; soft dates or chocolate stuffed dates are the modern version. Two to six dates per guest is the usual range.
- Dry fruit: almonds, cashews, walnuts and raisins add crunch and make the box look fuller.
- Mithai: a piece or two works, but it needs to be eaten the same day, so dates and dry fruit travel better.
- A tag or card: your names, the date, and a line of thanks.
Whatever you choose, keep chocolate favours out of the sun at outdoor events, and in the fridge until the day.
